WORDS

You know I have never been a good writer. Content is my bane. I have always been inclined to think that if you have a couple of words and maybe a picture or two then that’s enough and if people don’t understand then they are stupid. Content has always been filler to me, never a large portion of anything that I do. If develop a website I can make a bunch of pretty pictures and do neat tricks but never able to put ‘pen to paper’ to give the website that next level of professionalism. When I am creating help documents (which are very WORD heavy) I come off dry and sterile and well boring. As I get older I wished that I pursued a more proper education in writing and learned to enjoy it. Yes I have taken English and Literature classes but I always skated by on my charm and brute force stay up all night and throw some words on a paper and call it done. I try not to think about it and avoid plagiarizing as much as possible. If you were to hand that paper to me a week later I would ask you who wrote it, I never really cared. I know people are aware of my less then stellar communication skills because I hear all the time “wow you wrote more than two sentences”. (I try really hard not to tell those people to screw off) In person I am easy to talk with I am articulate and can hold a conversation with many a topic but WORDS just fail me when I have to collect them; it’s as if everything is running through my brain and it won’t slow down long enough for me to get it out. When I am speaking I sometimes will forget what I have said within two minutes and it’s because I have released that knowledge from my brain and there is no use to remember it. I can’t be unique in this blasé attitude about language that I throw it away as if it is a renewable resource. I guess I should respect the things that I say and should be able to transpose them to paper for all to see over and over. Content, Creativity, true substance I guess will simply fail me and WORDS will simply have to flow from my mouth to the open air when only ears will hold and paper will not.

I do understand the irony in writing this out but it was more of a free flow then a single thought. You may notice my focus was not always clear but you get the point.

The Dark Knight

Okay I am not a movie critic yeah I watch a bunch of stuff but I try to keep my opinions about movies to myself or a select few so if you are reading this and have a problem with the way I wrote it up feel free to comment but don’t bother if all your going to do is complain about my post.

<SPOILERS WARNING> Consider this the first an only warning I will give for movie posts. If you have not seen the movie yet don’t read the post.

This movie was filmed in Hong Kong apparently and that is fine but I would have enjoyed Gotham to look well Gothic.  It could have been any large metropolitan area for all I know there was no atmosphere about he place, the first movie seemed to get it right but this one I guess didn’t want to cast a place as another character. Batman (Christian Bale) did a fair job but it was kind of dumb putting dogs in the fight scene I mean OK dogs are sucky and the can do some damage but Batman can take like 10 guys at once and he has trouble with a couple of dogs. Destinations

The following list is places that I have been. This is not a complete list some are being omitted because they were just work excursions and I didn’t get a feel of the place and some are omitted due to the fact I don’t remember much about the trip; we will not be getting into why I don’t remember. The plan is for me to mark each one off as I write about it. The list is more or less for me keeping track then for you to wait in anticipation for what I will write next. It has been over 20 years since I have visited some of these places so you are going to get the ramblings of a man remembering his childhood memories on the older one. I am known to embellish a thing or two but for the most part it will be truth but if I start saying something like I slay a dragon with my bare hands then I might be going off the recollection path and into story mode. Regardless I hope it’s entertaining. To see the list click. Read the rest of this entry »

This article was lifted almost entirely from David Goodspeed on GearDiary.  I will more than likely rewrite something in my own words but I am lazy and it was written well so I just cut and paste for the time being..

“The tide has turned on large, mobile real estate-hogging vehicles here in the U.S. and the new trend is small – even tiny.

We recently tested a couple of tiny cars – the MINI Cooper and the smart fortwo passion coupe – and one of the most common comments was relating to accidents, something along the lines of “I sure wouldn’t want to be in a wreck in one of those.”

Well, I wouldn’t want to be in a wreck in anything, but I certainly concede their point after driving these little passenger vehicles in traffic next to one-ton duallies and 18-wheelers. And if you live in or frequent an area where these type vehicles are commonplace I might not recommend either of this week’s test vehicles as the odds are stacked against you remaining unscathed for very long. I was picking a buddy up at the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport and he was hungry and the topic of crab claws was tossed in the air so we went in search for a seafood buffet. I am not going to bash any place on the Gulf Coast for doing construction because Hurricane Katrina did a real number on the area but it’s been a while and the casinos have a lot of money so the area I feel should be in a little better shape than it was. The construction wasn’t the hard to get around it just slowed things down a bit. We wondered around for a bit but we happened upon the Isle of Capri and I guess we got lucky or someone already knew but they had a seafood buffet so we went in. First thing it was confusing to find which way to self parking in the garage. People were turning right in left lanes and nothing appeared to be marked clearly but I did have a couple of guys in the car telling me where to go and we all know how that goes. I have a little car so it was not that hard to find a spot that I could park in but I did go the wrong direction in the garage. Read the rest of this entry »
